Our Opalescent Factory offers two tours per week, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 10:00 a.m EST. ONLY. If you get lost or are late, and you miss the 10:00 tour, there are no more tours until the following Wednesday or Friday. Tour admission is $1.00 per person. Each person will receive a coupon for $1.00 off of a purchase from the gift shop of $2.00 or more. Children 5 and under free. If you need directions, please call us in advance of your trip. KOG has been in the business of manufacturing colored sheet glass at the same location for more than 118 years. Although the company uses the most modern techniques and equipment, the basic process in the manufacture of glass has changed very little since KOG began in 1888. The plant tour should give you an understanding of what that process is.

This is an active plant, producing millions of square feet of the most beautiful glass in the world each year. There are, however, some risks involved in touring a working plant such as this, and you should be aware of those risks before begining a tour. In order to reduce those risks as much as possible, we impose certain restrictions on your conduct during a tour.

1. A tour group cannot exceed 12 persons.
2. Persons in a tour group must stay close to the tour guide.
3. No high-heeled or open toed sandal-like shoes are permitted; wear thick-soled shoes and WATCH YOUR STEP. The floors are rough and may contain molten or broken glass.
4. Do not pick up glass. It may be hot, and is always dangerously sharp.
5. Wear the protective eye glasses which will be provided for you.
6. In some areas, there may be dust. If dust adversely affects you, you should not take the tour.
7. No school tours will be given for any grade under 9th grade. The responsible party (guardian or teacher) of the 9th-12th graders must sign the release form.
8. Guardians must sign the release form for children under 18 years of age.
9. Because of the extreme temperatures of the furnaces, you should not take this tour if you are adversely sensitive to heat.
10. Before commencing your tour, read and sign the release form which will be provided you.
